In-School Programs

The Bird Sanctuary offers many different options for schools and teachers. Below are a list of different programs available. Choose the one that best suites you and your class's needs and then call the Sanctuary to schedule.

Raptor Programs

A live bird of prey show consists of or two to three birds of prey. Requests for specific species are allowed. Programs last from 1/2 to one hour according to your needs.
  • $150 - Less than 60 Students
  • - Additional Shows - $50/each
    - For more than 4 shows - add $50.

  • $200 - More than 60 Students
  • - Additional Shows - $125/each

  • $300 - More than 150 Students


One Bird and an Activity

A short one bird presentation, followed by an activity. This program lasts approximately an hour.

  • $50 - One Class(limit 30 students)


Avian Ambassadors

Choose a bird from the list below, pick a class project to raise money to "sponsor" the bird's care, and choose a day for your
bird(s) to visit your classroom.

L.U.T.I.F.Y. - Let Us Teach It For You

A series of five, 45-minute, hands-on presentations to assist you in solidifying some of the science standard concepts for your students. These can be used in series or as stand-alone programs. No live birds are included in this program, but can be added for an extra fee.

  • $45 - One Session


Innovative Elementary School Programs

This is a program that integrates literacy, science and art. It begins with a reading of "Packard Takes Flight" by the author, Susan Levine followed by illustrator Erin Burchwell describing how she painted the pictures. The Ohio Bird Sanctuary brings a live Peregrine and will share facts and information about Peregrine falcons. See booking information and more about the program [ Here ]


Art on the Wing

A live bird will model for the students while our staff present an informal program on the natural history of raptors.
  • $200 - Full Day (no more than 8 sessions)


Field Trip on Wheels

Field Trip on Wheels is an all-school assembly with various ecological activity stations. Created for school districts with reduced bussing or who are located too far from the Sanctuary for a field trip. The activities are interactive and are separated into five categories: Treasures in the Forest, All Wet, The Mad Scientist, We Are All Somebody's Dinner, and Adaptation Mastery. Teachers select six stations that best suit their curriculum needs. For a list of all the stations available, please call the Sanctuary.
  • $500 (activity stations plus all-school assembly) - 100 Students


Field Day

Field days consist of multiple short live bird programs through out a given time period. This program is ideal for multiple groups of students.
  • $300 - 1/2 Day
  • $500 - Full Day
