1. How are you supported?
The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that is supported by donations, program fees, memberships and grants.

2. What do I do if a bird is striking my window?
Birds will repeatedly strike windows because they see their own reflection and are battling an intruder. The best solution is to get rid of the window reflection by hanging light colored paper or any other material on the inside of the window.

3. What do I do if I find a baby bird on the ground?
If the bird is hoping around and has feathers it does not need your help. The bird may seem helpless, but this is a natural stage in their development. They have outgrown the nest and need a few days to learn how to fly. You can secure the area of domestic animals, but it is always best to leave the young bird with its parents.

4. What do I do if I have a bird/hawk trapped in a building?
Birds that are caught in a large warehouse are extremely difficult to assist. We do not have equipment to capture and remove. If the building has any high windows of large vents that can be opened the birds will fly to the highest location and may escape through the opening. Rarely will the bird fly down and go out the same place it came in, but you can try to leave the door open and they may come down.

5. What do I do if I find an injured raptor?
Raptors have very sharp talons and powerful beaks so take caution when approaching a raptor. Observe the bird from a distance to make sure it is injured and not just feeding and needs to help. Locate a thick blanket and throw it over the bird. It will then grab it with its feet and make sure the head is covered as well. Slide the bird into a cardboard box or container and take it to your local rehabilitation facility.

6. Are you open in the winter?
We are open all year long, except on Mondays and holidays.

7. Where is the eagle nest located?
The Clearfork Eagle’s nest is located on the Clearfork Reservoir and is viewable from route 97 and from picnic area 2+3 of the reservoir. Upon entering picnic area 2+3 go across the bridge and keep going forward on the path till you hit the endangered species tape and look up to see the nest.
