In 2000, we established an Endowment Fund at the Richland County Foundation. All gifts to the fund become part of restricted principle managed by the Foundation that generates unrestricted income for the Sanctuary's daily operations.
In 2024, we established the Founders Fund to help secure donations to bridge the gap between generated income and operating costs. The Sanctuary strives to operate as an efficient non-profit organization. We are able to generate 85% of operating cost through programming fees, gift shop sales, memberships, and fundraisers. We are also very successful at stretching our dollars and resources through in kind services and volunteers. Even with these efforts it does require an additional $90,000 in donations to sustain our programs and level of expertise. Support the care of one of our resident birds through our Adopt-a-Bird Program! Your donation supports the care of our birds that cannot return to the wild due to an injury or other condition. Some Adoption Levels include a stuffed animal of your adopted bird or the opportunity to meet the bird you chose up-close! This is the perfect gift for the bird lover in your family!
